Santiago Shopping & Market The area directly adjacent to the entrance to LaPunta is known as Santiago.  A few hours to a half day can be very enjoyable taking in the local scenery and shops.  Your ride to Santiago is filled with scenic vistas looking out from high atop the mountains of the LaPunta area.  You'll pass by a great view of the Las Haddas resort and  overlook the famous Las Haddas Golf Course.  In town, you can experience shops providing local pottery and ceramics and other items such as silver jewelry, hats, and any other items you may need.  There is even a Wall-Mart that has recently opened and the new Starbucks is rapidly becoming popular.  If you're not too exhausted from your inbound trip, Saturday is market day in Santiago where you can experience local foods,  market fruits & vegetables,  and a wide range of other items.  Plan from a few hours, up to a half day for a guided tour tour and take in the sights of the local area.  Price is US$40 per hour, per vehicle with up to 15 people per vehicle.  You can combine this tour with other tours scheduled for the same day if desired.
